Paradise City, a foreigner-only casino in South Korea, is to be closed indefinitely, while its non-gaming facilities will remain shut until September 9.

A total of six cases of COVID-19 have been discovered in the venue since September, which hinders the group’s attempts to resume business after the pandemic restrictions were lifted.

Paradise Co said: “This decision is a pre-emptive measure for the safety of customers, employees, and local residents. We plan to close our business sites and to expand the scope of inspections in consultation with the quarantine authorities.”
Paradise City reported KRW17.3bn ($14.6m) in sales for the month of August, a 75% drop year-on-year.
Another South Korean casino, Kangwon Land, reported it extended its closure as well, until September 21. It is the only casino that caters to the Korean nationals and was closed from the end of February until July 20. But after a month of operations, it once again closed its doors on August 23.

It is estimated the casino will lose KRW36.4bn during the closure, compared to KRW18.8bn from the previous period. The casino has been slowly increasing its visitor capacity, working at 25% in August.
